John M. Jelavich is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Bank. Mr. Jelavich, a native of Yuba City, graduated from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo with a B.S. in Finance. He spent 22 years with The PMI Group, a provider of credit enhancement to facilitate mortgage lending and securitization. At PMI, Mr. Jelavich served in numerous senior level finance, operations, credit risk management and loss mitigation capacities. In July 2010, Mr. Jelavich and his family relocated from the San Francisco Bay Area back to Yuba City when he joined the Bank. In July 2012, Mr. Jelavich earned his graduate banking degree from the Graduate School of Banking at Colorado, University of Colorado in Boulder.
Luke Parnell is the Executive Vice President and Chief Credit Officer for River Valley Community Bank. Mr. Parnell has more than 13 years of credit risk management and lending experience. Prior to joining the Bank, he spent over 10 years with Community 1st Bank in Auburn, CA as its SVP, Regional Manager and Senior Credit officer, where he provided leadership in credit underwriting and commercial loan origination. Mr. Parnell is a graduate of Bear River High School in Grass Valley CA, California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo CA, and the Pacific Coast Banking School’s Graduate School of Banking at the University of Washington, Seattle WA.
Liesl Schmidt, is Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer for River Valley Community Bank. Ms. Schmidt has a diverse background in finance, operational and process improvement, strategy, human resources and employee engagement, and risk management with a unique emphasis on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Prior to RVCB, she was an Executive Vice President, Regional Executive at U.S. Bank, NA where she led a sizable portion of the bank’s team across ten western states. Ms. Schmidt started her banking career in Northern California where she led commercial and operational banking teams for many years. She has extensive experience in client services, commercial relationship management and consultation, credit/risk analysis, and debt structuring for companies across multiple industries. Additional business experience includes employee wellness and productivity, international experience working in Japan; and owning an agricultural operation in Northern California. Ms. Schmidt is a NACD Certified Director, having governance and oversight experience serving on many non-profit boards. Ms. Schmidt is a graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park, Asian Division, with a BS in Business Administration and Pacific Coast Banking School’s Graduate School of Banking at the University of Washington, Seattle WA.
Kevin S. Reynolds has been the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for River Valley Community Bank since May 2021. Mr. Reynolds is a certified public accountant, licensed in the state of California, and has been working in the accounting profession since 2012. Prior to joining the Bank, Mr. Reynolds was a Senior Manager with Moss Adams, LLP, where he specialized in auditing financial institutions. Mr. Reynolds is a graduate of Rocklin High School, and California State University, Sacramento, where he earned his B.S. in Business Administration with concentrations in Accountancy and Finance.
Steve Berry is the Senior Vice President and Senior Commercial Loan Officer for River Valley Community Bank in the Auburn office. Mr. Berry provides nearly 15 years of experience in Commercial Banking with a focus on commercial lending and credit risk management. Mr. Berry was born and raised in Redding, CA, and attended California State University, graduating in 2007 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance. In 2016, he graduated from Pacific Coast Banking School’s Graduate School of Banking at the University of Washington in Seattle, WA.
Rob Gutowsky is the Senior Vice President and Senior Relationship Manager based out of the Roseville Loan Production Office for River Valley Community Bank. Mr. Gutowsky was raised in Sacramento, CA and attended the University of California, Santa Cruz, where he graduated with a BS in Business Management/Economics. He brings more than 14 years' experience in retail, business banking and commercial lending. He specializes in Owner Occupied and Investor Commercial Real Estate and Construction Lending. Mr. Gutowsky has served on many boards and currently serves as the Board President for the San Juan Education Foundation, which supports the San Juan Unified School District.
Charissa McClain is the Senior Vice President Compliance Officer, CRA Officer and BSA Officer based out of the Marysville Office for River Valley Community Bank. Ms. McClain brings 14 years of community banking experience focused on regulatory compliance and risk management. Ms. McClain holds a Bachelor's Degree of philosophy from UC Davis and is a Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager. She is a third generation Yuba County resident.
